Clothing Donations

WE ARE TREE OF LIFE, A COMMUNITY DRIVEN CHURCH

An emphasis is placed on Outreach here at Tree of Life, Open Bible Brookline. As such, we determine and position ourselves to engage in a variety of ways for cyclical relationship. One of our 24-7 branches is Donations where there is no seasonal expiration time. There is never a time when we cannot or do not receive articles of clothing and various other essentials like rainwear,shoes, boots, hats , even extending into light houseware goods such as plates and glasses.

After a year's hiatus due to Covid-based restrictions, there a few changes that affect protocol that you need to be made aware of:

1.Donations and Food Bank still serve across aid strata but are not directly linked at this juncture and engage with people's needs independently though often working alongside to support a family's or individual's need(s).

2. Donations may be dropped off on church grounds at anytime convenient to the donor at: 1036 Brookline Blvd. in the back section of the church/facility at the red door closest to the brown gated dumpter area. The other doors are specifically utilized for Food Bank Deliveries etc., however available staff are rarely here past 4:00 PM M-F. Any necessary messages may be left on ministry voicemail: 412-351-1095, ext.206

3. All items for Men, women, children and infants, must receive timely inspection and is based upon the following standards:

~ Apparel must be free of stains, w/working zippers, and all buttons. We have a motto, "If it's not a blessing, we won't give it!"

~ Garments w/ elastic waistbands need to be intact and functional.

~ Clean smelling and w/ out rips or tears. * There is a sml.exception in the case of a tear in the inside coat or pant pocket.

~ Shoes are unscuffed and  in good/fine condition with undamaged heels.

~Clean/New socks are accepted.

~Only brand new undergarments offered.

When receiving a donation in person from a donor, politely thank them , offer to help to go to their car and help carry the items if appropriate, such in the case of the elderly and have them drop off at the door or right inside the facility is also fine and ask them if they'd like to be be given a receipt for tax purposes:).

Your warm and sincere conduct speaks volumes in their remembrance and encourages their repeat selection of Tree of Life for their future donations !

If a quick inspection of the items cannot be facilitated at the time of receipt, simply place the boxes, or bags right inside the main storage space down the hall from the Youth Room. There should always be available space made. If for any reason the space is taken, you may drop off in the shop at the end of the counter space by the shoe rack.

If time allows for inspection, clear a tall clothes rack as best as possible or use bins to separate male garments for female's, and same for children.  If no rack or bins are immediately available, use supply bads and seperate .

This will allow for quick and speedy merchandising in our shop!
