Computer Operator: Lyrics

This is a very important job. You don’t just “put the words on the screen” but you are a worship leader. You are a vital part of leading the congregation into a worship experience. Your job is crucial to helping people be able to enter into the presence of God during the time of worship. Timing is critical so you need to pay close attention. You should not be distracted by other devices or people but concentrate on what is happening on stage and be prepared to change something at the last minute if needed.

Work with the stream person and the sound person to make sure they are ready, that they have the video set to show and the sound on when you are ready to play a video.

Don’t be frustrated if the worship leader, speaker or pastor goes off the list. Instead, rejoice that the Holy Spirit is moving in our midst and make any changes necessary.

Remember to save the set-up as soon as you are done so that if there is any issue with the computer during service you do not have to rebuild the entire service.

Arrive before 9:30 for the morning and 5:00 for the evening. Worship team practice starts promptly at 9:30 am and 5:00 pm. There really isn’t much time available for practice so you really need to be ready.
Please turn off your phone. Any important or required communication can be made through Slack on the computer.
Find the list of videos for today’s service in Slack.
Pull the appropriate videos from the Google Drive and add them to the order of service.
Make sure the videos are in the correct order.
Play all of the videos to make sure you have the right ones for this week. Use earphones to listen so they aren’t played through the sound system.
Play one video to verify through the sound system to make sure the sound works.
Listen to the worship team practicing and have the songs ready that they practice and any list that the worship leader gives you.
Make sure you speak to the worship leader to see if there are any other songs needed.
Talk to the pastor or speaker to see if they know what the scripture(s) for the sermon will be and have it ready and added to the order of service.
Pre-Service broadcast starts at 10:30 for the morning and 6:00 for the evening. You should have everything ready by this time.
If you have extra time, go to the bathroom or get a drink. Be at your station by 10:55 am or 6:25 pm to transition the welcome video at exactly 11:00 am or 6:30 pm.
