* Maintain an awareness of ratios throughout the day and how it relates to staffing (such as checking in on staff more often if  the floater knows that no one can leave the room).
* The floater is required to check in with the kitchen ''at least'' once per day around 10:30 am. On certain days, the floater may be responsible for helping plate preschool breakfast, lunch, or snack for all classrooms. This is coordinated with kitchen staff (i.e. Cara X306). Please confer with her no later than 10:30am to clarify responsibilities in this area for the day. These times should be marked as USDA on a timeclock.
* Clean up check in materials (flyers, tablet, etc.) once the upstairs classroom has been dismissed at 2:15pm into the greeter station and make sure that it is put under the counter.

The purpose of the Sprouts “floater” is to assist classroom staff in whatever way necessary to maintain ratios within the classrooms while also meeting intermittent needs.

Floaters should expect to:

  • Answer the Ramp Door:
    • If it’s a Sprouts drop off, complete the check in(s), then escort children to their proper classroom(s). This includes Brightwheel check in if it is a child in the upstairs room.
    • If it is another Sprouts concern such as payment or paperwork drop off, please contact Amanda, Carmen, or Lance in that order.
    • If it is a package, simply place it by the mailboxes in the stairwell.
    • For any other concerns (food pantry, clothing donations, etc.) confer with Carmen and/or Stephanie for direction.
    • If it is a Sprouts pick-up: Do NOT send a child with an adult you do not know. This may mean that you have to go back to the classroom to relieve another staff member to confirm the adult. Please try to learn faces as much as you can with time. Simply tell them, “Just one moment, I do not know you because I am new, but other staff do. Let me just have them confirm.” Families are normally very gracious and appreciate the measure of security we have in this area.
  • At 8:15am, gather the upstairs room children who are early drop from the downstairs room and escort them to the upstairs classroom.
  • The preschool door is mostly handled by classroom staff, except for 2:15-2:45pm during snack and when they are in the cafeteria. During that time if the preschool door rings they will need assistance if there are more than 10 children. If it rings twice or if it rings while they are in the back classroom or outside, please answer the preschool door.
  • Wipe down cafeteria tables after breakfast and lunch, as well as sweeping up any major floor mess.
  • Check in with each classroom periodically throughout the day (about once per hour).
  • Be available via internal phone extension for unexpected needs. This can include: a child who needs taken to the restroom, supply needs, bathroom breaks for staff, extra support for behavioral challenges, during peak transition times, etc.
  • Maintain an awareness of ratios throughout the day and how it relates to staffing (such as checking in on staff more often if  the floater knows that no one can leave the room).
  • The floater is required to check in with the kitchen at least once per day around 10:30 am.
  • Clean up check in materials (flyers, tablet, etc.) once the upstairs classroom has been dismissed at 2:15pm into the greeter station and make sure that it is put under the counter.
